About PUBLIKAT & STYLEFILE

Publikat Press is an independent publisher with deep roots in urban art culture. Since its foundation in 1999 and the release of first STYLEFILE MAGAZINE, the publishing house from Germany has been dedicated to creating books and magazines that go beyond documentation –offering inspiration, insight, and access to creative worlds that shape today’s cultural landscape.

What began with a passion for urban art and creative expression has grown into a diverse publishing program that collaborates with internationally renowned artists, designers, and photographers. From 1999 to 2017, way more than 100 titles were published and distributed. Each publication is developed with great attention to detail, combining high-quality content with distinctive design.

Alongside publishing, the company also ran a successful web shop (Stylefile.de) for streetwear, sneaker and graffiti supply, reflecting the same commitment to creativity, authenticity, and cultural relevance. The e-commerce division quickly became the company’s largest business segment and was responsible for driving strong growth.

In 2018 the company got in serious struggle as E-Commerce division lost battle in competition with big players in the game. The founders Markus Christl and Jörn Stiller left Publikat. Until 2023, the new owner attempted to stabilize and further develop the company, but this attempt ultimately ended in its complete collapse.

In 2025, a new chapter began: Markus Christl regained the trademark rights for STYLEFILE MAGAZINE and PUBLIKAT. After seven years of absence, he is leading the brand back to its roots – continuing the story from where it was left off and reigniting the original spirit that shaped its identity.
